“Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own.”

Thanks, Thomas. Glad to hear that you've settled into something that really seems to fit well for you and gives you the confidence and adaptability to really thrive in the markets. There's lots of trials and tribulations in this business for sure but I think that's probably what makes it so satisfying as there is always new ways we can grow and improve over time. Here's to the next couple years and continuing that growth with plenty of points to come!

"They would likely be much better served (and more profitable) by just taking some of the things they already know, simplifying them into a workable plan, and then trading it in a focused way for a good period of time."
Amen to that my brother. It took me a couple of years to figure that one out, and then a couple of years to create the plan. Better late than never!

In reply to <a href="https://samuraitradingacademy.com/trading-journal-july-26th-2018/#comment-715">Ray Tse</a>.

Hi Ray.

Thanks for the comment! I actually didn't even think anyone would notice these posts as I had yet to link them to the main page so I'm impressed you came across it so fast.

I think we all have that desire in us to search for the "Holy Grail" of the trading world (very rare losses, no discretion, setups regularly timed, etc.) so you're not alone there. I spent a lot of time in my early years trying to eliminate losing trades but eventually I figured out I was sacrificing some of my edge and expectancy to do it, so why bother? In the end am I trading to be right or trading to make profit?

Some people honestly do it for the ego boost of the former and will often struggle for a long time but if you can let go of that and accept that you don't need to be right all the time then it makes it much, much easier to be consistent and profitable. It's so much easier to trade effectively when emotion and ego isn't tied up into the result!
