Welcome to Samurai Trading Academy, the premier resource for day trading education and training.  My name is Cody Hind and I'm the Founder and Head Trader of Samurai Trading Academy.  I've been trading E-mini S&P 500 futures and Forex for over a decade now and I continue to have a burning passion for the markets.  I got started as a day trader for one simple reason - freedom.  I wanted freedom to work when I wanted and from anywhere in the world and I've created Samurai Trading Academy to help others achieve those goals as well.

The Creation of Samurai Trading Academy

In working with and coaching traders of various levels of experience over the years, I've heard a lot of complaints about the state of education in the day trading industry.  Over and over I heard about people who spent thousands of dollars (even tens of thousands) on trading education, only to find out that the program was run by someone who didn't trade themselves or that the trading system was full of confusing and conflicting trading signals.  I was constantly getting emails from people looking for something that could provide them everything they needed to take them to the level of being consistently profitable, and finally the desire of traders for something truly different convinced me to make Samurai Trading Academy a reality.

These aspiring traders were looking for a complete day trading training program that would include everything they needed to achieve consistent profitability, including education, a time-tested trading system, and personal coaching.  They were also looking for a community where they could continue to develop and improve their results with a group of like-minded traders.  Our Emini S&P 500 (ES) day trading training program uniquely fills these needs and provides a day trading edge that you're unlikely to find anywhere else.

Developing as a Trader

In order to truly develop as a trader and become consistent and highly profitable, there are some crucial elements that are necessary.  The first is that a developing trader needs structure and a proven trading plan to follow.  Too many people enter the market unprepared and lacking clear rules to define when they trade and perhaps more importantly, when they shouldn't.  At Samurai Trading Academy we help alleviate this problem for developing traders by providing them with a very powerful trading system with objective setups and clear rules.  This allows market newcomers to trade profitably while they learn and provides an excellent foundation for further development as they become more experienced in the markets.

Although having a proven trading plan to follow is vital, the importance of ongoing coaching and support can’t be overstated.  We don’t just provide you with a day trading system and then leave you to fend for yourself in the markets.  Instead, you will be supported by professional day traders throughout the entire process of your trading development.

The STA Training Program and Day Trading Course

The training program at Samurai Trading Academy has one goal - to create consistently profitable day traders.  In order to do this, we have our traders go through a comprehensive three month training program and day trading course that covers all aspects of trading including how to read the market and identify trading setups, how to manage risk, and how to maximize our profits.  Our course is available entirely online through our STA website and our webinars, allowing our students to learn to day trade from anywhere in the world.

I firmly believe that the best way to teach trading is by coming at the subject matter from all angles.  This means written materials, video content, live market trading and training, and unlimited personal interaction with a mentor.  Everyone has their own preferred method for learning so by covering all aspects of the Samurai Trading Academy curriculum and our trading system from different angles we can achieve an extremely high level of trader development in a relatively short period of time.

The sections below detail exactly what our training approach is comprised of.  There's a lot of content compared to anything else out there, but we take things one step at a time so that you won't feel overwhelmed.  Everything we do at Samurai Trading Academy is about the natural progression of traders from basic understanding of the markets, to consistency in application and profitability, to eventually excelling as a day trader who can handle any situation the market throws at them. The program goes for a minimum of 3 months, which is enough time to allow traders to grow and develop at their own pace while being profitable.  Here's what the training program includes:

The Curriculum and Trading System

A critical part of our day trading course is the comprehensive written curriculum that covers a range of trading topics and the rules of our trading system.  It contains 21 chapters covering everything from how to get your trading platform set up, how to read market structure and price momentum, the rules for identifying and entering the STA trading setups, and in-depth investigations of various trading scenarios to improve your trade management and profitability.STA Curriculum Chapters

If you are quite new to trading, we also cover a lot of basic technical analysis to build your trading foundation.  We dig into a variety of topics that are crucial to performing well in the markets as a day trader like support and resistance (from the perspective of supply and demand), trendlines, consolidations versus trending price action, and more.  While some of these concepts may already be familiar to you if you have some trading experience we also have a bit of a different take on many of these ideas and apply them directly to our trading approach so there will definitely be some things you will gain from a thorough review.

The Live Training Room and Review Classes

On Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:30 EST and 11:30 EST I host a live training and trading room for all the students in the STA Training Program.  We cover the actual trading setups as they are happening in a live environment but the room is meant to provide traders with much more than just potential trading setups.  We also analyze the structure of the market, the price action, and the momentum of the market so that you can truly learn how to read the market and build the skills necessary to trade independently.

Trading well is about much more than just reading indicators and this is what I teach.  It's about learning how to understand the way price moves and gaining the ability ability to assess the probability of future market outcomes.  My goal is to build the skills that people  need to become profitable day traders who can trade on their own rather than needing a constant mentor to make their decisions for them.  The focus of the room is on developing the level of ability that gives traders the freedom to trade when and where they choose as completely independent and consistently profitable professionals.

We also spend a half hour at the end of each class with a question/answer session and doing a thorough review where we cover any topics the students want to discuss and go through areas of the Curriculum in additional detail.  This is a good time to cover a lot of things in more depth than we can do in the live market where we need to be fully focused on the recent action.

Over the course of the STA Training Program these sessions add up to dozens of hours of live market instruction and review.  Since prior sessions are added to the STA Video Archive as well, traders in our program have access to hundreds of hours of live market lessons they can view at any time.

The STA Video Archive

We record all of our live training classes, reviews, and member-only market recaps and place them in the STA Video Archive.  This means that even if you have other commitments and miss a live class, you are able to catch up at our convenience.  I plan to always keep at least three months of videos in the Archive so that highly dedicated traders will have countless hours of educational content available at any time.

Some of our traders even work entirely on their own schedule as they study and trade the markets.  We've had multiple students who for work or personal reasons are only able to attend the live classes on rare occasions, but through the STA Video Archive they are always able to follow the sessions at their convenience.  This has allowed these traders to successfully develop their skills outside our schedule while trading at times that are far more convenient for them.

Weekly Reviews

Each week I have people send me all their trades with some of their own comments and I go through them in detail in a video review.  This is important, because sometimes I can see some potential sticking points and patterns in a trader's development that they're not seeing themselves.  Often it's about more than just what trades to take and what not to take, as in many cases I can see some psychological factors in play just by seeing somebody's charts.  For example, a recent trader showed charts where he was taking a bunch of break-even results on trades that went on to be winners.  This was going against the rules of our trading plan.  We identified his fear of seeing initially profitable trades come back into drawdown and are working through that issue with some new rules specifically for him until he breaks the plateau.  It's all about making small changes week to week and seeing those improvements become massive leaps forward over time.

Personal Coach and Mentor

I try to make myself as available as possible at any time of day.  I check emails every day, chat with people in Skype, and send video replies to complicated questions.  I think this is a hugely important part of the trading development process as without direct feedback from a mentor it can be difficult to maintain consistent growth of your trading skills on your own.  I've put in hundreds of hours getting this program set up because some of my former students wanting a more direct coaching and mentoring process in futures, so I aim to do everything I can to provide exceptional support and coaching to help them reach their goals.  Because of the time commitment for me to work directly with people in this way, I can only take on a handful of students at a time so enrollment in the training program is very limited.  I look for people who are willing to give a full effort to join this program, so I make sure I have the time to give you 100% as well.

This kind of hands-on involvement with traders is all about getting people to a level of week to week consistency in their trading that they've yet to achieve, so they can then go on to do whatever they desire with their trading.  If that's to become a 9-5 professional then that's great.  If it's about a part-time income because they have a career they love then that's good too.  Or if it means having the freedom to travel at any time and work from anywhere in the world, well, that's just as noble a goal as the others and I will do everything possible to help people achieve those goals.

The Community

At Samurai Trading Academy we are building a community of traders who can work together, build trading relationships, and continue to develop by supporting each other.  As anyone in this business will tell you, trading can be a lonely business at times.  If you do have some trading friends, they are often trading their own strategy and using very different analysis techniques from your own, so it becomes more of a distraction than anything to chat about what's going on in the markets.

We bring together a strong group of consistent pros who all have a similar trading foundation with the Samurai Trading Academy methods, so we can easily discuss current market conditions, new setups, and continue to improve as a group.
